SORA, over 55 years of port towing in Noumea
SORA (Société Océanienne de Remorquage et d’Assistance) was founded in 1970 and is exclusively dedicated to port towing operations in Nouméa. The company holds a Public Service Delegation agreement with the Autonomous Port of New Caledonia, allowing it to carry out safe and efficient towing operations for all vessels arriving at or departing from the port.
SORA operates in both areas of the Port of Noumea:
The Grande Rade, dedicated to industrial and commercial activities, includes the main port, Numbo Port, the SLN quay, and the Baie des Dames quay. This area is mainly used for docking commercial vessels, cargo ships, oil tankers, gas carriers, and large cruise ships.
The Petite Rade, designed for docking passenger ships and tourism-related activities, also accommodates vessels involved in technical and scientific operations.
